Referral links — A lot of companies have a referral program. It’s a win-win for everyone. You get a job, and your friend gets a prize: (usually a bonus). People in Israel are HAPPY to give your their direct referral link/submit your CV directly. Because Israel is a TINY country, try to find someone you know who works there or a friend’s friend’s cousin that works there (you get my drift 😏)

● If you can’t find someone to submit your CV, try asking in relevant FB groups. For example, Olim in Tech. An instrumental FB group where you can post the list of companies you’re looking to apply for and ask if someone in the group has a referral link and/or advice about your industry! I’ve personally done this, and people were beneficial!

EMPTY your inbox, and send it to the archive. You will miss essential e-mails from recruiters if you have a full inbox.

Whatsapp is a socially acceptable form of communication in business in Israel.

Instead of calling, recruiters and companies will sometime first reach out to you on WhatsApp to ask you when is a convenient time to speak, which is way better calling than randomly calling in the middle of your work day or errands.

Once you have an Israeli number, change your WhatsApp number ASAP. That’s the number that (hopefully) appears on your CV, so that’s the number potential hiring managers will WhatsApp. If you don’t yet have an Israeli number, state this on your CV.

You made Aliyah; it’s time your WhatsApp phone number made Aliyah too.

Don’t worry; WhatsApp will notify all your contacts (if you ask it to) that you’ve updated your number. 📱

Answer your phone - I know many of you don’t answer your phone to unknown numbers, but you’re going to have to get over it; recruiters will call! If you can’t answer now, text them asking who this is and if you can call back later.

● If you’re looking for a new opportunity, send resumes today. The interview process can take anywhere between 4-12 weeks.

Yes, you read that correctly. Even if you aren’t looking to start for another two months - start exploring your options!😊

Allow yourself the time to search for a role that is good for you. If you need a break from searching and interviewing, do so! Job hunting is a full-time job and can lead to burnout.

Respect your mental health and job search at your leisure. I have taken breaks during my search because I knew I deserved to stay sane. ♥️
